Turks & Caicos
Do I have to do an AI on this island or are there restaurants to go to? I'm used to Aruba where you can travel the island for great places to eat-is it anything like that? If not, are the AI good? I am not doing Beaches. They quoted me 10k for a week in March which is utterly ridiculous for an AI.
Suggestions where to stay? It's my DH, myself, and our will be 2 year old by then.

Re: Turks & Caicos
I went to T&C 3 years ago for my 1yr anniversary. T&C is not like Aruba at all when it comes to stuff to do and restaurants. We mainly ate at our hotel because we didn't find much in the surrounding area.

Thanks! That's what I've heard. We love Aruba so I think anywhere else would be disappointing since we love that we can roam the island and go to all different restaurants. So we are leaning towards Disney cruise

Re: Turks & Caicos
We stayed at Beaches a few years back and did not leave the resort. Did not want to anyway. It was gorgeous and had all we needed. Not sure where you are staying, but on the drive from the airport to Beaches, I would not want to be driving around and it didn't look like there were restaurants or anything in the area. It actually looked like a very poor area.

Re: Turks & Caicos
I went to Turks and Caicos last year and absolutely loved it. We did not stay at an all inclusive. We went out to dinner every night. They have great restaurants. They are in the different hotels or just free standing restaurants. We didn't rent a car so we had to take a cab everynight. I believe a cab ride was $8 each way. The island is small but they charge a set fee. There isn't much to do there but relax at the beach and eat. The restaurants were delicious. I remember the names if you want more info fm me.The beach is beautiful. I highly recommend it. I do not have kids though so if your looking to do something with kids the best hotel there is Beaches. We stayed at the hotel next store, The Windsong. It was a new hotel and we got it for a great price. Its small but everything is new and the room was really nice. The flight is only 2.5 hours it was so nice to get there and still have most of the day ahead of you.

I agree..Turks and Caicos is a gorgeous island!! We went out to a different restaurant every night...all were delicious. We took a cab to them as well. It's a wonderful place to relax. I didn't travel with children, but if you don't want to stay at Beaches then The Sands was pretty kid friendly and very nice.

Re: Turks & Caicos
we went to Turks for a wedding last June. they couple hosted events for most meals, so i can't really comment on restaurants, but we loved our hotel. we stayed at the regent palm. it has a great pool and the rooms are really nice. it is not an AI though.

Re: Turks & Caicos
I went to Turks & Caicos in June with DH and DD. We did not do an all inclusive. We went to different restaurants all the time. A lot of them are located within the different hotels (many of which we were able to walk to) and for anything a little further away you could just ask the front desk to call a cab for you.
