TTC'er- Advice Needed
Hi Ladies!
I just started TTC and I don't have an OB/GYN!
I've heard that you should choose a hospital that you want to deliver at and then go from there to choose a doctor. I live in Astoria right now and from what I hear the hospitals are not so great around here so I was looking into hospitals in the city.
Is there a way to find a hospital and see what doctors they have and choose from there?
Or better yet, does someone have a good recommendation for a doctor in the city? TIA
ETA: Clueless question: About how many times during your pregnancy do you have to travel to your doc? I'm trying to figure out if I should be looking for docs in the city or possibly Nassau (even though it would be a bit further to drive). I do have access to a car, so maybe I should look at

With my insurance company, i can search for any Dr based on what Hospitals they are affiliated with.

i live in queens too and am delivering at LIJ hospital in New Hyde Park. The hospital is amazing...if you have a car, you may want to consider that hospital instead of the city.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking now. A bit of a drive may be worth it because of all the traffic in the city.

i would also take into account where you work bc you will be seeing your doctor every 4 weeks, then every 2 weeks, then once a week. so if you drive to work and head out east (or stay in queens) not having to schlep into the city for dr appts would be easiest. but if you work in the city you may want to consider a dr near your office.

We live in Queens and I'm delivering at NYU. It's an easy subway ride or drive in since it's right out of the tunnel, and it's a top, baby friendly hospital with a top NICU as well. If I wasn't delivering there, I'd probably find a dr associated with LIJ.

Re: TTC'er- Advice Needed
I'm in middle village and am delivering at LIJ there new facilities are amazing...all private rooms! And the ride to the hospital is not that bad 15 min without traffic and if there is traffic you can take the side streets. Don't want to deal with manhattan traffic, tolls, and parking every 4 weeks, then 2 weeks then every week lol

I have been with Dr. Herzog for 10+ years, but Dr. Rothstein delivered my son, who I adore. I love them all there, there is just one of them who I am not too fond of their bedside manner. I can FM you if youd like to know who.

I have heard great things about Dr Rothstein...she delivered my friends 2 kids. I was considering switching to her but decided to stick with my practice

I live in Brooklyn, but my OBGYN is in Manhattan. I work in Manhattan and its a quick walk to my Dr's office. Especially as I have aways had to go in to see them every 3 weeks. They deliver at NYU and its one of the best hospitals to deliver in. When the time comes...I hope it will either be late at night so there will be no traffic getting into the city from home or during the day while I am at work so I'm only a hop skip and a jump away!

Same here!
I found a new OB affiliated with the hospital through the insurance website. I looked at who was covered and it also lists their hospital affiliations.
