TTC while BFing
Did anyone TTC while BFing? Did you think it made it harder to conceive? I am 9 months PP and BFing. DH and I have decided to start TTC. I'm just curious if it will take longer because of this...

I haven't, and won't be  but if you have gotten your cycle back I am sure it wouldn't be much harder.

You will obviously not conceive until you start ovulating again. The question is, when will you start ovulating? BFing is known to delay ovulation which is why BFing mothers don't get their periods for up to a year after birth.
Did you get yours yet? If you did than you are good, although I believe you might not be regular for a while after your first PP cycle... At any rate, have fun!

I had a semi period at 7.5 months and I just had a real AF last week.... so I'm hoping I'm good to go!

I would think once your cycle becomes regular it would make no difference that you are BF. I want to TTC once Jack turns 1 so I hope I get AF back by then. I never thought I'd be hoping to get my period!

DS was conceived while I was breastfeeding! My DD was 7 mo old and my AF returned 5.5 mo
(It only took once! ) Happy surprise!

Once you start Oing again you are in the game ;).
We wanted to have 2 under 2. I got AF back around 6 months PP. When he was 10 months we started and i was pregnant on the first shot. I did want to continue nursing Ryan and i will be honest to tell you it hurt like he ll and my supply was essentially non-existent once i was pregnant (one of my clues in the 2WW).
So, if you already got AF you should be fine - just sharing my experience with BFing. One of my criteria to TTC was that i needed to be able to get Ryan to a year of nursing - i was thankful to have my stash!

My sister warned me that it hurts like hell  I just want to start now because I don't know how long it will take. Hopefully it won't take long. I am pretty determined to get to a year of BFing. Only 3 more months to go!

I think it hurt me more than labor LOL
Plus, he had teeth and if he scraped me i would yelp. And i was getting droplets of milk.
I started introducing milk around 11 months (mixed with BM) to make up the difference - but he had a hard time adjusting. We had nasty diapers for a month.
Like you, i was concerned that it would take a while (it took 6 months my 1st pregnancy which ended in MC, and 3 for Ryan so we were figuring on an almost 2 yr difference). Needless to say, they are 19 months apart ;)

Thank you! I do have some BM stored in the freezer, so if it came down to it I can mix that with regular milk. DS has teeth and when he bites I WANT TO DIE, so I can only imagine the pain

I wasn't TTC when BFing, but once I got AF again, my cycle was all over the place for several months. Towards the end of BFing and now, I'm more regular than I ever was aside from being on BCP.

i agree it does hurt like he l l but it usually gets better after the latch is established! I got preg when my DD was 7 months and I BF for the whole year!
