Trying to help a friend....
My best friend is a single mom with 2 boys. One is 10 and he is miserable with his living situation. He is really a good kid, but for the last 6 years he has been crammed into a TINY one bedroom apartment. His grandmother owns it and she took them in. He has been acting out a lot the last 2 years.. It isn't going to get any better the older he gets..
The other is 8 and he has severe ADHD. He is on meds and gets therapy 2 times a week. He may have to go to a different school next year because he is having a lot of trouble with everything.
I want to help her out by taking the older boy at least once a week during the summer for outings. It will be a Friday night or a weekend day/night....
I have known my BF for over 20 years and I was in the delivery room when the oldest was born! I use to babysit for him from when he was 2.5 years old until, now!!!
What do 10 almost 11 year old boys like to do? I will take him just about anywhere..
I plan on having movie nights for all of them at our new house. Let them sleep over. Just to get away from their current living conditions.. My BF can't afford to move out on her own..

Trying to help a friend....
DS will be 10 this summer. Some things he would like to do this summer:
Beach
Water park
Fishing
Camping
Ducks game
Hiking
Adventureland
The boat ride they do at the aquarium
Horseback riding
Hang with friends
Video games
Movies
Zoo
Bowling
Museums
NYC
Have fun!

All of the ideas FranM said are great!
I always keep an eye on groupon and living social for deals! They had a rock climbing one and a laser tag one recently. I also have seen a few for half day fishing trips!

I don't know much about 10 year old boys. But that is really nice of you to do for your friend and also for the 10yo boy. I am sure they'll both really appreciate it.

I have tickets for a few Ducks games already..
We can do the zoo and aquarium too..
I didn't even think about bowling... DUH..
I will definitely keep an eye on groupon... I have gotten a few good deals from them before!!! Thanks...

Thank you.... I figured it will help her out too. She can give her other son a little more one on one....

A few bowling alleys do FREE bowling all summer long for kids, you just have to sign up online. Kids can play two games a day all summer long. For like $24 you and three additional adults can also bowl two games a day all summer. All you pay for when you go is shoe rentals.
I signed my family up last year and it was awesome. Doing it again this year too. I believe AMF lanes is what we did, we go to the Port Jeff bowling alley.
