trouble weaning from bottles :(

I've been trying this week to only give DD sippy cups during the day. She doesn't cry or ask for her bottle, but she doesn't drink that much from her cups either. What should I do? Hang in there or go back to bottles? ugh! I'm so mad at myself for not making this a priority this summer and now i'm stressing out about a week before work starts again!!Chat Icon

hang in there!!!! Chat Icon

It took my son a good 10 days before he stopped being mad at me and took the sippy with no problems. He would have a bit of milk here or there, but it wasn't until 7-10 days that he started taking more and more.

I take it you've tried various kinds of sippys? my son really only likes the take and toss ones. Chat Icon

Re: trouble weaning from bottles :(

DD rejected any sippy for milk other than the Born Free (I think it reminds her some how of her Born Free Bottle). Of course it is just as annoying b/c there are so many parts Chat Icon but that is only one she drinks milk from. She drinks water from a straw sippy, but wouldn't take milk from it.

Good luck and don't give up!

My daughter will be 2 in Nov. and still gets 2-3 bottles a day. It's not the worst thing in the world if she's still on the bottle.Chat Icon

I only give DD a bottle at night. so she gets a sippy cup of milk in the morning before she eats (4oz) she will usually drink all of it but didn't at first...then she doesn't get more milk to her bottle and i fill it completely up pat the 8oz mark. the doctor said she is getting plenty of milk. during the day she gets water with a splash of juice in her sippy and she drinks a ton of that.

good luck

Re: trouble weaning from bottles :(

thanks ladies! she didn't really drink very much milk this morning again, but did drink her entire sippy this afternoon! (i think 5 oz) and had about 5 oz bottle before bed. I bought the nuby sippy cups because a lot of people had told me their kids really liked them! maybe that will do the trick for us!!

it really took us several different sippy types to find the right one for milk... ds loves the nuby ones BUT he also loves pushing his finger in the hole which destroyed it... so i bought a similar one from a different brand (cant tell you which one and they are in the dish washer) and they are alot sturdier.. he willl drink so much fro mit that i have to bring the milk to the table for refills

you're going to have to tell me which one this is because DD is constantly playing with the nuby cup and getting milk everywhere!! She figured it out right awayChat Icon

it is by munckin.... looks like a slimmer nuby cup... he loves it and will drink up to three cups worth just at dinner... he has given up trying to put his finger in the hole on that one.. gave him a nuby one that my mother bought him yesterday and he destroyed it instantly
