Trouble going to the bathroom

My son is a month old, and had a hard time going to the bathroom yesterday. He did go 3 times, but they were nothing like normal, and he was straining alot. Today, he is also straining. Is there anything i could do to help him? thanks

I would say prune juice but your DC is so young. I would call the ped and ask.

Re: Trouble going to the bathroom

when dd had a hard time going the ped recommended rectal stimulation....take the thermometer and put it in there (just about 1/2 of an inch) and slowly rotate it....this will help him go...it worked like a charm for my dd and she did not mind it at all.....she was smiling away while I was doing it Chat Icon

Re: Trouble going to the bathroom

My DD used to strain a lot too. She strained so much she tore a hole in her hiney.Chat Icon There was blood in her diaper and consistency of her poops was more runny, so I took her to the doctor. They switched her to Gentlease and she hasn't had a problem since.

What does the poop look like? I would call the doctor just to make sure.

Re: Trouble going to the bathroom

We did vaseline ...and also my ped had us doing 2 oz's of water a day. It only took maybe 1 oz a day to get things moving for Noah.
