Tri-Vi-Sol

When I went to the ped. for the 1st visit, he said I should start Andrew on 1 ml of Tri Vi Sol a day. We did and now his poo is not the right color and it seems he has alot more gas which makes him so fussy. I dont understand why he needs this when breast milk is supossed to be all the nutrition a baby needs. Anyone else give this vitamin to their newborn and would like to share their experience? Thanks!

Re: Tri-Vi-Sol

I didn't give it to DS and he is fine. None of my kids liked the vitamins, it smells horrible and gave them horrible gas

Re: Tri-Vi-Sol

We're supposed to be giving it to DD, but I ALWAYS forget. I probably remember to give it to her once every 2 weeks. It's SO smelly and she usually spits most of it out anyway Chat Icon

Re: Tri-Vi-Sol

josh has had trivisol daily since 4 months old. The ped told me that my body doesn't make vitamin D. He likes it, never a problem.

Poly-vi-sol for us. I am BF but after being monitored in the hospital for so long the neonatologist sent DD home with Poly-vi-sol and Ferginsol since I am anemic.

Re: Tri-Vi-Sol

My doc didn't recommend it until 6 months. We've been doing it since then without a problem but I don't think I would have done it when she was a newborn. Breast milk is all they need as newborns. I'd just make sure that I took my vitamins and ate plenty of nutritious foods.

Same here. I had forgotten for a while (1 month or so) but DS loves it....he sucks it out of the dropper before I can start squeezing it!

Re: Tri-Vi-Sol

On the days I did remember DD always wound up wearing it instead of drinking it so I gave up and just made sure I kept up with my prenatals. I think they say BM lacks vit. D which is why they recommend it for newborns.

Are you sure it was Tri-Vi-Sol? I've heard to wait on Poly-Vi-Sol, but Tri-Vi-Sol is okay for newborns and up.
