Tree Removal
Can anyone share with me how much I should be looking to budget to remove a rather large tree from the backyard? TIA

Re: Tree Removal
Our neighbor just had a very tall and thick pine removed for $500.
I'd highly recommend Joe's Complete Tree Service. We have had a lot of trees taken down and Joe has had the best prices and are very thorough. Our neighbor used him too.
ETA: I should add that the quote was given two days before the storm and the tree was taken down after the storm. Joe still honored it.

Re: Tree Removal
Ever since the storm we've been getting RIDICULOUS quotes from people to remove a tree in our backyard. If you can, I'd wait a bit more. One company quoted us $2500 for one tree!!!!!!!

Re: Tree Removal
before the storm I would have reccomened cheap chariles... but they are a bunch of a$$es.
Week b4 the storm, they quoted me 550$ to take a tree down, when i called to authorize the work after the storm they wanted over 800$...Jerks.
I used Dank Tree Service, they were ok. wound up costing 700$ in the end. Pizzed.

Re: Tree Removal
i am calling around as well, just was informed by two companies they won't come to us because its their busy season and we are too far. I understand since they were far out but in the fall it seems they would of been happy to come.
I am calling one more guy and if it doesn't work I might take one of the trees down ourselves and wait until the fall to do the other. I am even keeping the damn wood so its like $1600 for two trees and 4 pruned is a bit much for me.

You should tell the whole story if you're bad-mouthing someone. When you first told this story the $550 quote was an add-on cost when they were already at your property doing other work and the $800 was when you asked them to come back as a separate job to take the tree down later. Of course it's going to cost less if they are already there with the equipment, vs. having to make a separate trip to do the job and bring everything back again.
