travelling with 8/9 week old

What would/have you done??!!!

We are going with my parents to their vacation home in florida for a week with DS for the first of many times. DS will be just over 8 weeks when we leave. We are already buying and having shipped down there... a pack n play, a bath sling, and atleast a play mat or toy similar. We are driving my dad's car to airport.

so the question.....
Originally we planned to bring infant seat and base with the snap and go and we would just install base in rental car.

OR

we can get car seat in the car through rental company and bring our bigger bulkier awesome City Elite Stroller only. I plan to go on long walks everyday in their community so I thought that would be better to have with us. Not sure if its too big to check at gate?

What makes the most sense? what have you all done? Do we need to have an infant seat on the plane??? I am so confused!!!!

I would just bring the Snap and Go. That's all I had when Ds was an infant and it was fine for long walks. If something were to happen, it's also easier to replace.

As for the carseat - you can install the infant seat in the rental car without a base so you don't need to bring it. If your DC is a lap child, you will gate check the infant seat and pick it up at the plane door once you get off.

if you can manage the bigger stroller, i'd bring it. it is hot in FL and they already get hot in the infant seat for extended periods of time. i think he would be more comfortable in the cooler stroller.

I don't have an infant but we just rented a car and carseats down in Florida from hertz and it was awesome. The carseats were very clean and you install them yourself. I will never bring car seats with me again. This was 1 million times easier!
