Travelling to DR-MMR vaccine?
Hi,
I have been lurking on this website for a long time and I got a lot of good advices from here.
I have a 13month old DD and we will be travelling to DR-Punta Cana. (She will be 14months). My dr recommended giving her MMR at 13.5months, but I really want to wait till she is a little bit older (maybe closer to 2 years old). Does anyone know if this vaccination is needed to travel to DR?
What other precautions can I take while being in the resort on vacation? This is our first vacation with a little one.

Not sure if it's "needed" but I'm all for being up to date as a precaution when traveling.
Just wanted to suggest if you give any vaccines before your trip do it at least a couple weeks before you leave. We gave DS2 his a week before we left to Aruba (as a precaution) but he had a reaction and broke out in a rash and fever while we were down there. It was bad. Had I done a little research before I would have know symptoms usually show up around a week-11 days later.

If you do give it I would make sure it's well before you leave. DD got a pretty big reaction to it I think about 11 days later- fever, SUPER cranky, and a rash. She was not herself for almost a week from what I remember. I would not want to deal with that while out of the country. Good luck!

I went to Aruba when my son was 7 months, no MMR. We went to England at Christmas when he was 19 months, no MMR. I'm waiting on it and asked my dr about it. He said if I've decided to wait, then just because we were going to England wasn't a reason to get it. So no shot. Good luck with your decision!

We're going to DR when DS is 15mos. Ped wasn't concerned about him needing it prior. I even asked. Now that I'm doing some research and have learned about the reaction, I will be waiting until we return.

What kind of medicine should I take with me?

Saline drops
Maybe triple anitbiotic cream
