Traveling with 8 Month Old-HELP

Ladies I need your advice. I am traveling by plane with an 8 month old. This is my first baby and my first time going away PLEASE tell me EVERY SINGLE THING i need to pack? What do I carry on? What do I do with her pack and play (will use it to have her sleep)?

No information is too 'common sense' or too small. Just share everything if you dont mind.

I can't help TOO much since i don't have travel experience with DS yet but here's what i've gathered from others:

-- babies sleep on the plane ... a lot! so don't stress too much about DS crying the entire flight.
-- bring a bottle and start feeding when you're about to take off & land (unless DC is sleeping, then let him sleep). also, pack pacifiers for this.
-- buy new toys (cheap stuff from the dollar store works just as well) - new toys are the best things ever
-- you can get the pack n play checked in, but speak with your hotel - they often have some available for you. I know my friend was able to get one when she traveled.
-- don't forget to pack at least one or two extra outfits for DC and another shirt or two for you and your DS in case you get dirty somehow.

I think a lot depends on where you are going.

I have taken DS to FL 2x now. Once was to my parents and we didn't really bring anything other than clothes, enough formula/diapers/food for the flight and the first day. We bought the rest down there.

2nd time we went to Disney. We brought the City Mini stroller. The resort we were staying at had cribs (most hotels have cribs or PnP). I did the same with food and diapers cause we had a car and I just went to Target.

We broguht a few toys for the plane but he ended up sleeping for most of it.

My Ped suggested to bring DS favorite toy, a new toy and an old toy that he hasn't seen/played with in a while.

I carried her formula on the plane with us. Not sure about the hotel you are staying at, but our hotel offered a pack and play, which was great. I also kept bibs, extra change of clothes, some diapers on the carry on as well. Don't forget her fav toys to keep her occupied.

Going to FL. I have to bring her car seat because we are going to rent a car. Do I check that?
And I know this is stupid but she just sits on our lap right?

Going to FL with little ones is so easy. You only need to pack enough formula and diapers to get through 1-2 days. There are Targets, Walmarts and Publix everywhere! I can just about guarantee that any FL hotel will have either a crib or pack n play for you. Bring lots of snacks for the plane. I gave my kids one goldfish, puff, etc... at a time. Or a snack trap that takes a little time and effort.
As for the car seat, does your DC still fit in the carrier? Because I found at that age that with the snap and go was the easiest. We gate checked both.

Most hotels offer cribs or pack and plays so you won't have to bring yours. We usually just bring our own sheet to use.

For the carseat - you can either check it with your luggage or check it at the gate if your baby isn't getting their own seat. Same with the stroller.

For food/diapers/formula I would bring enough for the flight and a little extra and buy more when you get down there - so much easier than carrying it all.

For the plane - I would have a bunch of toys to keep DC occupied. My DS enjoyed putting down the window shade on one of our flights and that kept him busy for about 30 minutes!

I am traveling with DD who will be 5.5 months in March. I have started a list of things I cannot forget!!! Sorry if my list is nutso...I just want to be prepared!

Clorox wipes in a baggy to wipe down the the seat backs and arm rests on the plane
Burp cloths
Bibs
Diapers and wipes (1-2 days worth)
Diaper rash cream
Vitamins
Thermometer, Tylenol, Gas drops (incase she gets sick, I don't want to be running somewhere to buy this stuff at the last minute)
Sunscreen
Brimmed hat
Toys
A few books (if I can fit them!)
Monitor (we need this staying at inlaws)
Music projector
Changing pad
Pump
Bottles
Milk storage bags
Possibly my Ergo carrier but not sure yet
Car seat and base
Stroller

Oh and her Social Security Card for security at the airport.

I don't need to bring a pack-n-play but wanted to say don't forget a sheet for it!

Also I would check the carseat as soon as you get there. You may want to check the stroller at the gate so you can keep your LO contained and have hands free to carry diaper bag and go through security.

I take everything and I mean everything. Nail clippers, qtips, bendaryl you name it. Anything I use on a daily basis comes with me or some small version of it. I always take Tylenol, Advil and a thermometer too just in case (and unfortunately needed it). I think better safe than sorry. I ran out of oatmeal cereal in Aruba and couldn't find it anywhere. Another time couldn't find Calomine lotion. I did stop taking a portable crib though since my DSs slept with us in the bed anyway.

I was just going to take my reg stroller because she still fits in carrier that just snaps and go... you dont bring the car seat on the plane right?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but this is all new to me. And i need her social security card for id at airport?

All good questions =) You usually don't need to buy a seat until 2yo. You can hold her on your lap. You could bring a car seat with you if you decide to buy her a seat. You have to consider how long your flight is and if you'll be travelling alone. I've held my 9mo at the time for a 5 hour flight with no problem. Just pack some stuff to keep her busy on the plane
