Transitioning to milk
DD turned one last week. She had a milk protein allergy but we have been introducing dairy over the past month ans she seems fine.
The pediatrician told us that it's time for milk instead of formula. She believes in a cold turkey approach.
I tried today, both in straw cup and in bottle, various times of day (replacing bottle, with food, as a snack). DD wants NO PART of the milk. I will call ped tomorrow (not worthy of a weekend call!), but any advice ahead of time?
Should I dilute the whole milk with some water? Mix some w/ t formula and gradually increase ratio?
What was successful for others?
Tia!

Transitioning to milk
I would gradually increase/decrease the milk/formula ratio over the next week or two. I wouldn't bother calling the Dr.

Re: Transitioning to milk
I did it ounce by ounce with all of my kids and none of them had any issues with it. I would give them one ounce milk then the rest formula for a few days. Then 2 oz. milk rest formula for another few days. Continued until they were fully transitioned.

Re: Transitioning to milk
I'm in the middle of transitioning DD now. I'm doing it slowly, adding one ounce a day until she's fully switched over. It just made more sense to me to do it that way.

Re: Transitioning to milk
We just started transitioning last week. We did 1/4 milk / 2/4 formula for 4 days and she was fine. Tomorrow, we're going to start doing 50/50. Goal is to be fully transitioned to milk by the New Year.

Transitioning to milk
Try mixing. That has always worked for my dd. I started (as per peds rec) replacing it 1 oz at a time. So my dd usually drinks about 6.5 oz bottles I started by replacing 1 oz of milk to 5.5 oz of formula for 3 days. Then 2 oz for 3 days, then 3 and so on.
Ended up my daughter couldn't tolerate it at a certain point. It was too much dairy for her and she had issues digesting. I ended up switching to almond milk. And did the transition the same way. And shes on almond milk now and totally fine.
