Transitioning to crib

I'm going back to work when DS is 10w. I think we're going to start having him try sleeping in his crib this weekend or next weekend. I already put him in there several times a day to get used to it. Sometimes he's awake, sometimes he's already asleep. He's lasted an hour napping in the crib before waking up in terror lol.

Any tips? He's currently 6w

Re: Transitioning to crib

My DS was in a RNP before transitioning him into the crib, I had to buy one of those crib wedge things to stick on top of the mattress under the sheet to incline him a bit because he was so used to sleeping on an incline in the RNP. Over time I took the wedge away and all was fine. Good luck!

We did it at 3.5 mo. They were in RNP before that. We stuck a box under to elevate for about a week. We also swaddled or 2 weeks in the sleep sack then just swaddled the body with arms out after that.

We transitioned from the rnp also. We used the incline and I put receiving blankets under the sheet to make almost a "nest". The rnp was so snug around him, that that replicated the feeling. I also swaddled him. I probably did too many things but I was worried about the transiton. But it worked well and the first night in the crib he slept way longer than any time in the rnp. He was 7 weeks.

Just keep doing it and he'll get used to it. I started with naps too, just once a day and then increasing as she got better with it. For nighttime, I would put her to sleep in the cosleeper and then move her once she woke up and I nursed her. Within a a few weeks she was sleeping in the crib pretty much all the time.

6w is still really young. At that age, I'd just do whatever you can go get sleep (both you and the baby)! Where's he sleeping now?

If you want to transition to the crib, the best way is probably cold turkey. Otherwise, he'll know every time he cries he gets moved to the RnP or swing or wherever.

Personally, I'd leave him wherever he's happily sleeping now. Wait until he's older and into a better sleep pattern before you start moving him around. As he gets bigger, he'll prefer the space in the crib anyway.

Transitioning to crib

DD is 11 wks and still sleeps in bassinet in our room. She naps and hangs out in her crib now so I'm hoping it won't be a big deal. I prob won't move her into the crib overnight until she outgrows the bassinet.

we went from RNP to pack and play at 8 weeks (we were going on vacation and he was going to have to sleep in it for a week). We did that the week before vac then on vac, then put him in crib a couple days after we came back.

He would do good until 4am...it got later and later. It was rough the first month.
