transitioning to cows milk
did you mix formula and regular milk? or just go straight to regular milk? I'm not sure what to do and DS has been on enfamil gentlease so that concerns me as well. Any advice???

I slowly introduced it. I mixed it with her formula.

Re: transitioning to cows milk
I just switched over cold turkey. We finished off the last can of formula and then went right to milk, my DD had no issues with it. As long it was warmed like her formula bottles she had no problem drinking the milk.

This is what we did as well.

Re: transitioning to cows milk
My DD was on similiac sensitive and I tried doing it cold turkey and did not work out well at all. She would have a bowel movement after every bottle. I spoke to the Dr and since I was on day 5 of her still going after the bottles they had me put her back on formula until her bowel movements went back to normal (firm) and not after every bottle. After that happened I was told to do it slowly. For 1 week I would add 2oz of milk to every bottle and just increased until I was only at 2 oz formula. It took me a month to transition just because I was afraid of her stomach hurting. While I did that I also dropped a bottle so that when she was fully on milk she would only be getting 16oz. I think this was the least amount the dr said she could have, I can't remember if it was 16-24oz a day so I just stick with the 16 and if she has an off day she will some times get a little more.

transitioning to cows milk
DS is on gentlease and we did it cold turkey. He had no issue withy the taste but had a HUGE issue with his stomach being able to handle the whole milk. It was so bad I had to pull him off and back on formula for a week and then SLOWLY add in the milk.
He is not doing good again and I think I might have to go to lactaid instead.

Re: transitioning to cows milk
We just switched right over one day. My doc said that as long as my DD did well with new foods and eats well that we didnt have to transition.

Re: transitioning to cows milk
We did a slow switch over a one week period. I figured that way we could avoid any issues if there were going to be any, and we could finish off the formula. We had no problems.
