Transition to Daycare

A lucrative employment opportunity may have presented itself, and if so for various reasons I might take it. I've been home with Jenna for 20 months now, will it be extremly difficult to transition her to daycare?

I hate the thought of putting her in daycare but it might be good for her I am so torn


Also does anyone have any recommendations for the Ronkonkoma/Hauppauge area?

I think she'll be fine. The first few days may be a little teary, but she'll fall right into the swing of things.

Send her to the school Nick and Alec are going to!!!

WOW i was in the same exact situation as you not too long ago. It worked out pretty good. Bryan was 18 months when he started daycare and I was offered a new position at my former company. At first I was a nervous as could be, I wasnt too keen on the whole daycare thing, but more and more I decided to focus on the positives because we really couldnt pass up on the job and he is doing pretty well in daycare.

Good luck!!! I know its going to be hard for the both of you, and Cailen will never have separation issues because he is in daycare at 9 wks, so he will experience separating from me as his normal life But, I did read this once, and it really is very valid...

If your child is screaming and crying for you to come back to the room, don't. As painful as it is, if you keep returning when she cries, it communicates to her that there is something she should be afraid of, and that even mommy is worried about leaving her there... It sounds awful, but in my experience, the kids that I worked with have done better with moms that leave ASAP as opposed to lingering,....

That being said, I have lingered every day this week dropping Cailen off at daycare and he wasnt even crying, so its easier said than done and I'm not sure how many moms would really be able to do that, but I thought I'd share! Good luck!!!

I think the transition will be harder for you than DD.

DS is currently in Kid's Place It's right by the airport entrance. It's affiliated with the Connectquot school district, so that's why we picked it out.

I think it's done him a lot of good. He is learning a lot of things, socializing, etc. Right now, it's only two days a week, but it's a great way for him to get used to kindergarten next year.
