Transition lenses...love them or hate them?
I am up for a new pair of glasses and I was thinking of trying transition lenses instead of having glasses and sunglasses to carry around. I don't know anything about them or anyone who has them. Will the lenses be dark if I'm in bright stores with fluorescent lights?

This is a really dumb question but do you notice a difference in the lenses when looking at him? I remember I worked with a woman and her lenses always looked grayish colored to me when we were in the office (I thought from the bright fluorescent lights). That's what I dont want. I know she had a lot of issues with her eyes so I dont know if she had transition lenses or another kind of special lens.

Re: Transition lenses...love them or hate them?
My DH has the transition on his glasses... they get dark very quickly when he's outside but when he comes back inside they take awhile (about 5 mins) to go back to completely transparent again. He doesnt like that cause some people were like "why are you wearing sunglasses inside for?" He's like um, give it 2 mins LOL. It bugs him.
He works in an inside w/ bright lights and they dont effect his glasses at all.

My DH has them and likes them for driving. Other than that, he can do without.

Re: Transition lenses...love them or hate them?
I hated mine.
I like my sunglasses to be dark and I felt like the lenses never got quite dark enough to look nice.
And I'm a trainer, so many times I'm up in front of a room with a projector and they would transition then.
Did not like it!
I went with prescription sunglasses this time and I'm much happier.

If you have a newer car, they wont change in the car. Mine didnt. They UV protection of your windshield blocks the rays that make them change.... So driving they never got dark at all...

I had them and hated them! They don't get dark enough and I hate when I go inside they take awhile to go back clear. I much prefer my glasses and prescription sunglasses.

Re: Transition lenses...love them or hate them?
I find them to be very convenient b/c I no longer look to switch glasses immediately when I step into bright sunlight. I used to do that a lot and I'd have to fumble through my bag.
My first pair of Transitions had the brown tint because that is what matched the frames. That pair would change very quickly, which was good. Now I have a new pair with the gray tint and when I get inside they change back too slowly. My lense order was basically the same except for the color so I think that has something to do with it. In addition, I do not like the way my current frames look when they are darkened. I keep wearing them because of the convenience. I will probably keep buying them in the future even though there are some negatives.
