Train Table for a 2 year old?

We just bought one for our son, and DH thinks he is still too young for it, and won't fully appreciate it. He thinks the pieces will be all over. What do you guys think? Should we wait another year or so?

Thanks!

If we had the room, we'd already have one for DS. Right now, he makes train tracks on the floor and uses it appropriately. I think it's totally fine at this age.

DS is getting one for xmas and he will be about 18 months. We already have some tracks and trains and he loves them!

Re: Train Table for a 2 year old?

we glued the tracks to the table... then once he got older he pulled them off and likes to build the tracks by himself.

we did get extra tracks and sets besides the ones we glued down.

DS got a train table at 15 months old, at 4 he still loves it

We got my DD a train table last Xmas (she was just over 2 at the time) and to be honest, she had WAY more fun dismantling all of the tracks and playing with them then actually using the train set the way it's intended. Now at just over 3 she plays with it properly but at 2, she'd rather just play with the pieces, not the set.

DS is 2 and he has a train table...LOVES IT! never tries to take the tracks off and he loves flipping the switches to make the trains switch tracks and sometimes puts his cars on the table too. I think 2 was the perfect age to introduce it to him!

We bought it for ds last year when he turned two and we totally should have waited until now, he just turned three. He is more interested in disassembling the tracks than playing with it. I would glue the tracks down or buy a battery operated set instead if I knew back then.

Ditto! We gave our DS a train table for his 2nd bday in October and he loves and plays with it appropriately. He rarely takes apart any part of the track. He loves to push the trains around the track.

They have one at DS' school also and the kids in class play with it appropriately also; all young 2 year olds.
