Train-related things near Dutch Wonderland
I see several posts talking about doing train stuff while in the Dutch Wonderland area, but can anyone tell me exactly what type of thing it is so I can search online? I'm having a tough time finding info!
Thanks!

Re: Train-related things near Dutch Wonderland
We went here the same weekend that we went to Dutch Wonderland to do the Day Out with Thomas. It's not right in the same area, but maybe 45 minutes away (I can't quite remember so maybe it was less). There's a lot of stuff to do that is train related right around there, even if you don't do Thomas. You can still take a train ride.

Strasburg Railroad and Choo Choo Barn are the two I know of. Strasburg you can take a ride on the train. It's kind of boring IMO, but kids like it. They also have a few other activities, and a museum across the street. I think their site is pretty good as far as info. It's about 15 minutes from Dutch or less. Choo Choo Barn I have never been to, just saw it in passing. I think it might be mini trains.

We went to Cherry Crest farms (SO fun, my kids enjoyed it just as much as DW ) and then took a train ride straight from there to the Strasburg Railroad Station...There is a train museum there (we didnt do it though)
I honestly did not care for the Strasburg RR (to me there was nothing to do there) , but the train ride was fun

Re: Train-related things near Dutch Wonderland
Choo Choo barn is a huge model train layout. DS likes to eat at the red caboose motel. It's old and kind of dated but it's a real train car and the Strasburg railroad goes by. We ate in the dining car of the Strasburg railroad as well. DS loved that. There is a train museum there too but we haven't gone to it.

We took a ride on the Strasburg railroad & had lunch in the dining car & it was fun. We also went to the Choo Choo barn that day & even though he wasn't even 2 yet, ds enjoyed it a lot. He made us walk around a few times lol
