Toy Storage
We don't currently have a play room (working on one in the basement for sometime next year) and the clutter in the family room is driving me nutty. I want to find something to organize DS's things but it cant be too large bc theres just not enough space. For those with no playroom...how do you organize?

Re: Toy Storage
I bought an ottoman/bench with storage for the living room. It opens up... I have tons of bins for my sons toys.. Book shelf houses his toys on the lower shelves.. The shelf under the TV has two big fabric bins from Ikea on it for his stuff... I store what he doesn't play with too much under his bed.

Re: Toy Storage
We have the nine bin unit with canvas baskets from target. I would also look into getting a storage ottoman coffee table to serve dual functions.

We have the shelves with the plastic bins. DS is a car and train nut, so those all go in there. However, we also have these wall units that have huge cabinets, so he has taken over a few of those, too. Behind the cabinet doors is great because once it's put away, you don't see it!

Re: Toy Storage
We have toys tucked everywhere unfortunately but they are organized. We have a nice looking bookshelf for just books as an entryway table, a big storage ottoman, our coffee table has storage space underneath so one side has books and one has puzzles. One end of the living room is strictly DD's area so that has one of these bin organizers which holds more than I expected. Other stuff I keep in her room or closet and rotate out. It's still a lot and I never look forward to birthday or christmas presents!

Re: Toy Storage
our living room isn't ours anymore since DS came along HAHA hes almost 4- his bedroom is right off of our living room, so you would think he would play in there while we're right outside in the living room. NOPE!! he insists on bringing all of his toys out in the living so he can be in there with us :-/ SOO its crazy... but I try to keep it organized. we have 2 of the target Cube bin sets that are REALLY great! (we have one in his room and one out in the living room) the bins hold a lot more than you would think... and I left some of the little cubes without bins in the them, for stuff like his bigger trucks, games that are in boxes, etc.... so it works out really well!! I also have 2 end tables in the living room with baskets in the bottom of them, so I put of a few of his toys and stuff in those, too.

Re: Toy Storage
We have a microfiber ottoman that opens for storage in the den.
Also in the den, we have a sling type bookshelf for their books.
I buy fabric bins to use around the house to organize toys.
They each have the rack in their rooms with the open bins to organize toys.
I don't keep everything out and accessible at all times because I can't tolerate clutter so I rotate out toys every so often.

Re: Toy Storage
We really need to get something. Somehow, our formal living room became our toy room. We have a finished basement but the kids aren't old enough to go down there alone and I don't want to sit in the basement all day, so living room it is. We moved the coffee table against a wall for extra space and have the big toys in there. The couch in that room is on an angle, so there is a ton of hidden room behind it. This is where we store the toys. It works for now and keeps most of the toys out of the great room.
I really do want to move the 'playroom' to the basement though. We also need to get one of those cube storage pieces, they seem like an awesome idea!

We have a larger cube piece from Ikea, but we only use the bottom few bins for storage and they are GREAT!! We also have a coffee table w shelf underneath and we have a few baskets underneath where we store the cars and smaller toys. The bins and baskets are great, and the kids really love that they can pull them out and go through them themselves. I especially like the soft fabric bins in the cube shelf unit bc the baby pulls them out and I don't have to worry about them hurting her.

Toy Storage
We get rid of a lot of stuff. We also have 2 storage ottomans that we use. I guess we got them on sale because I remember paying 75 each. Either way they are great!! My 2 1/2 yr old has no problem taking the cover off himself.
