for town of Babylon residents...
Have you ever heard of needing a permit to have a garage sale on your property?
I am planning one next weekend and I live in the incorporated village of Lindenhurst.
I never knew there were permits for garage sales but one of my friends suggested I might need one.

yes - i had a garage sale at my parents' house in Lindy and had to get a permit. It's not a big deal...nothing that a trip to the Town Hall can't fix.
My dad got it I think (this was maybe 5 years ago)...

The Village does require a permit for a garage sale. Its like a $10 fee and you have to go to the Village Hall on Wellwood ave to get it, not Town Hall on Sunrise... The number is 957.7500

Really? I had no idea about this either. I live in the Village there too. Good to know. You should definitely do it. I know from first hand experience that the Village has nothing better to do than bust chops.

I know that alot of people that had them and didnt bother with the permit and they didnt have any problems. Town of Islip is like that too.

I live in Lindy Village & we had one & didn't get a permit & were fine. I think its like $15 or something. Guess they could bother you if they wanted to. You also can't hang signs on phone polls or lights; only private property (car, etc.)
