 Genetic Testing
Did anyone here have Genetic testing done before they became pregnant? I'm just curious if alot of people get this done cuz it was suggested be a doctor to test for stuff like fragile X and etc. before we start having kids. Nothing like that runs in my family, I guess for precautions and to be aware.

 Re: Genetic Testing
We got a ton of testing done before trying to conceive. It was covered by insurance.

 Re: Genetic Testing
We are doing the genetic testing. It is a 2 part test we are doing a month apart. It doesnt' run in our family but we decided to do it anyway.

 Re: Genetic Testing
We did this because we are both the same religion so we were tested for several diseases that are "common" to peoplewith our background. Tests came back to show that DH is a carrier ofTay Sachs and I am not. We wound up with other issues of my pregnancy that I am "at fault for" genetically but they don't test for what I have at the initial screening. My baby and I are both missing a part of the 3rd chromosome. Thankfully my doctor, the geneticist and DH and I have all come to the conclusion that since I am missing the same thing as the baby and I am (relatively) normal then the baby should be normal as well.
