 | 17 week dr appointment So today I had my 17 week appointment.
I heard the heartbeat and go on Friday for my ultrasound where we will look at the antaomy.

However, I am very upset. The Dr said I am gaining too much weight. I am now up 16 lbs, however, I don't feel like it.

I feel a little bigger tummy wise, but not huge. The scale is so upsetting.

So, we are trying to figure out why I gained so much weight in 4 months. She is testing my thyroid, because yes I do have occasional pig outs, but most of the time I am snacking on fruits, veggies and water ice. And I walk a lot too, so she wants to see if something else is going on

 | Re: 17 week dr appointment Well I have gained 30 lbs in 25 weeks and the doctor said it was fine. She said if I started out obese than they would worry but if you are petite or somewhat petite person, it is normal. Every doctor will tell you something different. |

 | Re: 17 week dr appointment Thanks girls. I wasn't big to begin with before Pregnancy (size 7-8) but I just feel miserable. And then I sent my family some pics so I was talking to my mom after the drs and she was like yea you do look a little bigger.
 Gee mom, thanks!

When I go to NY next week, I know my mom is going to criticize everything I eat.

 | Re: 17 week dr appointment Everyone's body reacts differently to pregnancy. There are times where weight gain can mean other health issues such as preclampsia or GD. So it is better that your doctor look into it then ignored. |

 | Re: 17 week dr appointment i have gained alot of weight and I spoke to my doctor about it, and he said it's fine, I will lose some after the baby comes and whatever I don't I'll work on, I really hate when dr's tell you that you're gaining too much weight!! As long as you and the baby are healthy then that's all that matters! JMO Message edited 3/15/2006 10:17:07 AM. |

My DH keeps telling me to eat so the baby is hungry and if I crave something or want it, then eat it. He wants a happy baby. He is too funny.

 | Re: 17 week dr appointment My DH is the same - when the dr. said "5 lbs since last visit" DH said "wow, thats good right?" And the doctor and I both looked at him like HELLO!! ARE YOU KIDDING?!! and the doctor said "umm, thats kinda on the high side". DH said "how will he (and keep in mind we don't know the sex) play for the Jets if he doesn't consume alot and grow?"

 | Re: 17 week dr appointment See, now, I went to the dr. yesterday, and I have gained A LOT since my last appt (granted it was 7 weeks ago), and I was shocked that my dr. wasn't upset about the weight gain. He didn't seem to think it was a problem |
