If you're going on a job interview
Google Yourself first!
I went on an interview and he was like "Oh, so you review things on Amazon.com" I was like...umm..err...yeah
I mean I willingly put my name on that, but now I have to go back and think do I want to be judged by this?

It was a little weird, I've gotta say... Did he read the reviews? Was he judging my writing? I was like "Oh those are really old"
Also, people can put your name on stuff, so you can be online w/o knowing, like if someone posts a pic, etc.
ETA: And watch what you put on your myspace and facebook, etc.

This is really good advice. My husband always googles people before interviewing them - I don't think he'd bring up something like Amazon, but he has made some interesting discoveries. A responsible employer has a right to protect themselves, and it's important that people remember taht the internet is a public domain.

My name is so common you get over a million pages with mention of it. Someone with my exact name (same middle name as well) wrote a book on cannibalism, and someone emailed me asking about the nutrient value of raw human flesh.

I have a really common name too, and other peple with y nae have similar interests... one is a fi;m actress, one writes childrens books and a few are professors...

I agree. We all have to be very careful.
No myspace for me.
I watch what I post on here and there ar often threads (especially on the relationship board) that I pass on replying too.

I always google prospective interviewees before meeting with them. I wish my entire company would learn this practice - - - it would have kept them from hiring some wackos!

There is a plus size nude model. pron star wityh my maiden name her ein the US. SHe is apaprenly onr of the top names in the industry.
I'm hoping that future employers would know that we weren't the same person.
