Torticollis

I am pretty sure my almost month old has this? I have always noticed he favored his right side over his left. It wasn't until recently when other people started pointing it out as well. I looked up favoring one side on google. Torticollis came up. He even has the muscle knot. I emailed his ped and explained it to him and what I thought it may be. He told me to.just keep encouraging him to.use his left side. And that we will assess it at our next well visit. That isn't until June 12. Is there something else I should be doing? Anyone have personal experience with torticollis?

DS does not have a flat head, which couldebe caused by favoring one side.

while he's in the bouncy seat or swing you can use rolled up washcloths so he's not able to lean his head the way he favors. They say to do this in the carseat too, but I would be scared to do it when I can't see them.

My DD had torticollis. It was not a severe case, but severe enough that others noticed. I finally realized I wasn't overreacting or being overly concerned when she was about 5mo. While I'm glad I finally asked her ped about it, I wish I discussed it with him sooner. Long story short, she's been receiving PT through early intervention for almost a year now and it's been a wonderful help.

If you are that concerned, see if your ped will see you early or if they will recommend PT. The earlier you can begin treatment, the better! You also could contact the county about early intervention services. You don't need anything more than a "self referral" to receive and evaluation.
