"Top Chef" Fans..Went to Harold's Restaurant...
Perilla for dinner last night...
He was the winner of Season 1.
It's only been open for 5 weeks, it was very good- not AMAZING, but we enjoyed it.
The menu was definetly safe, we were expecting the selections to be a bit more unique, but we did have a Harold sighting- he literally snuck from the kitchen to the bathroom, guess he really is quiet/shy.
It would have been nice if he came out & greeted his guests since I'm sure many people are there b/c of the show.
Oh well.
Nice experience overall.
FYI: This is what we had:
(I forget exactly what everything was prepared with)
Bottle of DELICIOUS Riesling! (I have the name written down)
APP:Raw Yellowfin Tuna
APP:Duck Meatballs
ENTREE: Hangar Steak w/ spinach & fingerling potaotes (has a nice sauce w/ it)
ENTREE: Halibut Special w/ bok choy- this was great.
DESSERT: Coconut Sticky Cake w/ watermelon, basil, some kind of spicy chili sauce on side & ice cream (forget the flavor)
DESSERT: Chocolate Cake w/ Perilla Yogurt (this just tasted like molten cake from a typical restaurant, but the yogurt was good).

I'm not surprised...His favorite line in the show was "I'm a cook" and in the finale Tom Colicchio told him to "stay in the kitchen".
Very cool though, I would really like to go and check it out, DH and I are huge fans of the show and were so excited that he won.

Wow, I so want to check this place out. Harold in Season 1 was the obvious winner to me right from the start. Such a huge fan of the show. I've never even been to any of Tom Coliccio's restaurants or even to 'wich craft! I need to get out more

I went to high school with Harold. He was always pretty shy.
I'm glad he's been so successful. I have to try his place out.
