Toothfairy tradition

DS is 5. Hasn't lost a tooth yet, but figured I should be prepared soon bc it can happen any day now and I don't have a clue what to do.
When I was younger I put it in an envelope under my pillow. My dad would put money in an envelope. I believe $1 or $2. He drew a cartoon tooth with him saying something funny or silly. My dad's artistic and has a funny sense of humor.

What is the going rate now and what do you put it in?

Thanks!

Toothfairy tradition

For my girls we did $5 and a fun toothbrush for the first tooth. Only $1 for every tooth after that.

Re: Toothfairy tradition

The first tooth was a $20 shaped into an origami heart with a quarter inside and all other teeth are $1. The tooth fairy gives the $1 as silver dollars along with a letter about how nice and clean teeth are important.

Re: Toothfairy tradition

First tooth is $20 here, every tooth after is $5. And the tooth fairy leaves $1 for the other 2 that didn't loose a tooth. Yes, the tooth fairy is a sucker in my house! The money always has glitter (fairy dust) on it and she leaves a letter as we'll.
