Too tired for labor...??

So last night I was sitting on the couch feeling like I was run over with a truck and reading one of my pregnancy books on labor. I realized that if I had gone into labor then, there was no way I would have had the energy to be in labor much less push out a baby! Chat Icon What happens then?? What happens if you go into labor when you are already exhausted??

Re: Too tired for labor...??

we'll get a huge adrenaline rush... that will give enough of a boost. I AM concerned though about the early labor period and not being able to sleep for 24 hours prior to pushing Chat Icon

The adrenaline will kick in....of course, if you labor for a long time, woman get worn out, but if you go in tired, have a normal time labor, I am sure you will have enough energy to get the baby out!!!

Re: Too tired for labor...??

I had been up all night because I was working when I went into labor at 5am and 14hrs later managed to push DD out. I was still on an adrenaline high after delivery and probably got a total of 3hrs sleep during my 36hr stay at the hospital. However when I got home boy did I crash. Thank goodness DD slept a lot those first few weeks because so did I!

Thats why you have a coach and the nurses there.. they give you that extra support to help you get the energy to push.. with my dd i was pushing for 2 hours straight and i was exhausted!!! Trust me once you feel those contractions you want to get that baby out as quick as possible.

i didnt sleep for 24 hours when i started to push, i was exausted. in between contractions i was practically dead but once that contraction started and i had to push i pushed as hard as i could! your in so much pain that you put all your strength into pushing because you just want that baby out!

I am sure my DH will be screaming and keeping the whole FLOOR awake when that day comes. He already is coming down with labor pains by association.
