too soon?
I'm thinking of planning a 4 day getaway for DH and I in January (Friday-Monday) Luca is due October 20. Do you think that's too soon to leave the baby for a few days? Do I sound like a really cr@ppy mother for even thinking about it?

Re: too soon?
It really depend on how your child is...and how you will feel once your child is here.
Bella was an easygoing and wonderful newborn, I had no qualms or uneasiness when I had to leave her overnight when she was 2 months old when I was in a wedding....I don't know about a couple of nights though...

Re: too soon?
I think it is ok but make sure you can get refunded in case you change your mind. My husband and I went away for 2 nights when our little girl was 3 months and it was great and well needed. It just depends on how you will feel once baby is here. You may be to attatched lol

Here's what I think: You could do it. You would have a great time. You wouldn't be a bad mom for leaving. You won't want to go - ESPECIALLY if you're going back to work.
Make sure to buy trip insurance & have a great time!!

Agreed! DH and I went away when Christopher was 4 months old. I didn't want to go when the time came, but I forced myself and we had an amazing time!

Re: too soon?
Do you have to plan it now or can you wait until after the baby is here to decide? I went away for 4 days when Sydney was 4 months old and my in laws watched her and it was hard but I am glad that we went. She was a difficult baby in the beginning but was much better by then, but she only slept through the night for them once so I felt bad.

Re: too soon?
I personally can't leave my baby now and she's 11 months old, at 3 months I still didn't even leave the house without her. DH and I were originally planning a trip after she was one but now we are pushing it back to when she is 2 because I am not ready to be away from her. I think it's a decision that's hard to make until you have your baby and see how you feel about it.

Re: too soon?
The first few weeks, I would have told you to take my baby and not come back for a few days and I'd be just fine. Now that she's 2.5 months old, I don't want to be without her! HOWEVER......I think once you get away, you get over it pretty quickly. If there's one thing I know, you really do need to make time for you and DH as a couple.
