too old for crib???
How old is too old to sleep in a crib?
Like can it be harmful or uncomfortable for their back at a certain age?

Once they can touch both ends so they can't stretch out. I would say about a 4th birthday is probably the maximum...and that is if it can be made into a day bed. If it can't be converted, I would say younger so they don't hurt themselves getting out.

Re: too old for crib???
DD is 4, about 42" & still happily sleeps in her crib. She likes being "cozy"

I don't think there is a set age. My DS was out by 2 but I know kids that stay in much longer. If they are comfy then I'd just roll with it.

Exactly. My DD would've stayed in her crib FOREVER. She was content in there and NEVER climbed out. We converted it to a toddler bed at about 3.5 yrs old and she stayed in that until she was 4.5 yr old, we only moved her out because we needed the crib for our DS when he was born.

Re: too old for crib???
DD is 3 years 4 months and we're actually switching today. She's very comfortable in her crib and doesn't climb in or out. Only reason I needed to make the switch is because now that she goes on the potty I want her to be able to get out of bed to go on her own.

Re: too old for crib???
My older ds was in a crib until 3 weeks before his 4th birthday. He was happy in it. We only took him out because we moved and it was only fitting he went into a twin bed at that point

My kids were out of the crib/toddler bed just before 3.5. They still fit (my 5.5 year old would still fit) but, they were more comfortable in a regular bed.

Re: too old for crib???
DS will be 3 in Sept and probably would have stayed in his crib for a long time if we didn't need it for #2! I felt like it was getting small for him; he never tried climbing out.

Re: too old for crib???
For me, I moved DD out of her crib once she was big enough to climb out and potentially hurt herself. At that point we converted it into a toddler bed (which was around 2 yrs old). She would probably still fit in it now, but when we moved to a new house last Summer (DD was 3) we got her a bigger twin size bed rather than moving in the old one. We figured for comfort's sake we'd end up switching over soon anyhow, so might as well. For #2 on the way I'm sure it'll be the same. Just feeling it out and going by what's safe and comfortable for that particular child. I don't think there's necessarily an age limit.
