Too Much $$ for a trainer?

PetCo offers private 1 hr training sessions for 4 weeks. It is $200.00.

Is that average or too much $$??? DH said I should look around before committing.

Not sure on the price but I recommend mutt manners (best friends training) they just started doing puppy classes and I'm pretty sure its inexpensive. Petco isn't real training. This place has performed miracles

I used petco and wasn't impressed. It was one of the sales associates, not an actual trainer doing basic training with treats that I was already doing myself at home with my dog.

ETA: I think I only paid about $100, def not $200.. they must have raised prices

Total Pet Care is the name of the store. The training place is called Dogworks. I think that for that kind of money you can get much better training than PEtco. I just did a one hour private lesson on Monday with a trainer for one hour for $50 but it was for competitive obedience and I thought that was a lot.

Re: Too Much $$ for a trainer?

I wouldn't pay that much for a Petco private trainer. Their trainers are just people who go through their (Petco's) training program. Most aren't full-time professional trainers. I would be more comfortable using someone else where you know the amount of experience they have.... I'm sure some of the Petco trainers are great, but for $50/hour, I'd go with someone else.

I am very happy with Dogworks too but Total Pet Care is the pet store next door to it. (Which is a really fun store!)
