too much?

My girlfriend is pregnant right now and it wasn't exactly planned. Her bridal shower is next weekend and her wedding is in July- she'll be about 5 months preggo. And then her mom will want to host a baby shower probably sometime in September. Now the question is.... is this too much to expect from people? She feels kind of funny about having a shower, a wedding and then another shower so close together- and I think I would too. Do you think it's greedy of her, or is it completely ok?

Re: too much?

i felt the same way. My engagement party was March 05, Shower July 05, Wedding Dec 05, and my baby shower will be in July 06. I didnt want one because I thought it would be too much in such a short time but my family said it wasnt, and if people dont want to come they aren't obligated too.

This was similar to my cousin...was it too much, probably...did we all go anyway and bring gifts....yes, it's family!

We are having a similar issue....my sister is having her bridal shower in June, wedding in August and my shower probably either August or September. Even though we are different people, my mom feels like it's a lot for the family to take in, but again, because it's family, I'm sure they will all be at everything.

You atleast have 7 months in between. My girlfriend will be having something once every other month.

Re: too much?

I felt the same way about me...how could I have a baby shower just one year after my wedding shower.

but you know what....whether it is months apart or years apart, people are still going to get her gifts, so what's the difference?

I say she should go for it. If people feel so strongly against it, they can stay home.

I had a friend last year...same situation. Had her bridal shower in July, wedding in August and baby shower for twins in September. It's a lot but I would have celerbrated all these things with her eventually so I didn't really care.

Re: too much?

I had my e-party in Apr 03, my Bridal Shower in August 04, wedding in Oct 04, then Baby Shower in June 05 and I felt it was too much. I begged DH not to do a baby shower; things were going all wrong anyway. Although he didn't invite many people to the baby shower, only about 8 people showed. A little depressing but whatever, I understood. Some people sent gifts later too which was thoughtful. But I felt bad having so many parties so close together.

Then for the christening I only invited the most immediate family, which ended up p!ssing a few people off. You can't win! Chat Icon
