too early for a 6 month old haircut?

i am so new at this, i know its a really dumb question, i apologize

DS has so much hair and its now going over his ears and eyes.. i push it out of the way but only lasts a few minutes.
so my question is, does any barber cut hair that young?

i am just afraid to trim it myself, that it will be a hack job!

If he has that much hair, cut it...It will get in his eyes. I babysat a little girl who had her first haircut around 4 months and then 3 more times before she turned 1....
