Toilet Training Cats

I don't want to give anyone nightmares, but has anyone here every toilet trained a cat? With my wee bairn crawling all over the house, I have this amazing fear that he will come to me in the kitchen with a big piece of cat poo in his hands and it will slowly head towards his mouth...whilst I run to him in slow motion trying to get him to drop it yelling....stooooooooooooopppp itt...

anyway, I know that this does work, but does anyone have any experience with this at all??

Does anyone have any other solutions to get rid of the stinking litter box???

Re: Toilet Training Cats

i have heard of people doing it, but i have never experienced it. honestly i think cats are pretty set in their ways and it would be something you would have to do from the beginning. JMO.

the litter box is a pain, but i have just started using crystal kitty litter and it cuts down the smell, although i know you are worried about other things besides the smell.

We use pine litter, which is great for smell but is dusty as all get out!
I might get some crystal litter this weekend to try.

I dont have cats but I have a doggie that still has accidents and a 15 month old. One day I turned my back for a minute and my son had poop squished all over his hands ready to put the poop in his mouthChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It was horrifying- I was literally smelling his breath and checking his teeth to see if he had already gotten any in- Thank god he did not.

we use something called Yesterdays News...they are pellets. No smell or dusty mess!! My cat does take some of them out each time he goes but I just sweep them up....much better than the clay stuff...I hated that! Always a mess and the smell...Ohh dear God!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We buy it at Petco!
