Toilet Regression

DS has been potty trained for well over six months now (day and night). Thanksgiving evenning he got hit with the stomach virus and started having pee accidents. He has had a urine accident at least once a day since last thursday. Yesterday he had four. Today he has had two. Tonight he had a BM accident IN the bath.Chat Icon An hour later he had another BM/urine in his pants. I punished him and sent him to bed without dessert or story. In the back of my head I know that is not the right thing to do. How do I get him back on track. He doesnt feel bad when he has the accident and would gladly just sit there all day.Chat Icon Advice greatly needed.

I have asked him why and all he can come up with is "i had to go."

Re: Toilet Regression

My son regressed 3 times during potty training. Two times after he got sick and once when we moved. The first 2 times it took a while to get back on track and I did put him back in diapers. He was 2.5 years old the first time and the 3 the second time. I just kept on him and left his potty seat in the room he mainly stayed in. Made it easier then having him running through the house to get to the bathroom. The last time it happened, he got back on track in about 2 weeks, he was 3.5 years old. Regression is normal after illness and big transitions. Just keep on top of him. And good luck...
