Toddlers and fireworks
If you have toddlers (2-3 years old), did they stay up and watch the fireworks l?
When I told people my son went to bed at 7:30, they were like what? He honestly hates loud sounds so he'd most likely be frightened by them.

Toddlers and fireworks
We started bringing my son to see them when he was 3, before that, he was too tired to stay up that late.
My town's display is great from my inlaws backyard so we just go there and hang out.
ETA - My friend's almost 8 year old and 5 year old didn't make it up to the fireworks last night - it's a long day for kids!

My DS did not stay up but that's because he fell asleep on his own. He had been up late for the entire weekend so he was exhausted by last night.
We never stick to bedtimes on weekends and holidays.

Yes, my son is 19 months... we walked to the firework show on the beach (about 1 mile walk) and we watched it on a blanket. I had put him in his pajamas before hand because he was already tired, I thought maybe he would fall asleep on the stroller ride back home but he didn't. He fell asleep within like 2 minutes of getting into his crib at 10. The 2 hours of lost sleep for him is worth the experience IMO, he can make up for it today

We don't stick to bed times on special events either. My DH had to be on a 5:50 am flight this morning for work so we went to bed pretty early too. Lol

Re: Toddlers and fireworks
I dont stick to strict bed times especially for holidays. We were at my parents house anyway so they had thr option to just lounge on the couch and relax.

Re: Toddlers and fireworks
We don't ever really go to see fireworks on the 4th- I can't take the crowds everywhere you go on Long Island and the traffic getting in and out. So it was never an issue
We watched some in our yard yesterday- that was about it

Toddlers and fireworks
My 2.5yo was so tired after a crazy day and no nap but she wanted to see them and my 5yo wouldn't miss them for the world. We just walk down a block and watch the neighborhood fireworks. By 9:30 as they were just picking up to the good stuff the little one was asking to go home bc she was tired. I got maybe 10 more minutes out of her and then dh bright her home. I stayed another 10 or 15 and then brought my 5yo home and they were in bed at 10.

Yep -- DD is 2 and stayed up for 2 fireworks shows this past weekend. It just kinda worked out that we were at the beach and spray park both days in the morning so she took a later than usual (and longer than usual) nap. Both times, we packed her pajamas and changed her into them right before the show started. She passed out shortly after, we drove home, and transferred her to her crib. She loved them and was so excited!

Re: Toddlers and fireworks
DD is almost 16 months and we did keep her up for fireworks on Monday. We were staying at ILs lake house all weekend (through the 4th) so her schedule was all off anyway. She was fading a bit right before, but she clapped her hands and seemed to like the fireworks! We walked her back to the house right after and got her into PJs, and she fell right to sleep. She woke up at her normal time yesterday, but then fell asleep for another hour after being up for about an hour.

Re: Toddlers and fireworks
Yep. I remember thinking about bedtime with my first and thinking fireworks would scare him. We took him when he was almost 2 and he LOVED them. All my kids love fireworks and we stay up and deal to watch displays at our local towns.

Re: Toddlers and fireworks
My kids (3 and 2) wouldn't know what they're missing anyway. I always put them to sleep before the fireworks start so that they are already in a deep enough sleep & less likely to be woken up by the noise. DH & I just watch it on tv anyway, we're not going to see it in person.

Toddlers and fireworks
My 1 year old got to see fireworks last night because there were a bunch going off in my neighborhood when we got home from a bbq around 9 pm. But he's usually up til 9 or 10 pm most nights anyway since our family is on a later schedule due to my dhs work hours.

Re: Toddlers and fireworks
Dd FLIPPED OUT every year until this year, and she's now 4.5. We had to run out of Epcot when she was 2.5 bc she flipped over illuminations. I used to be worried, bit she grew out of it. We've had so many sensory issues with her and it's always so hard when other people make comments About her lack of participation in things. She does things in her own time.
