toddler with allergies
Does anyone have a toddler who suffers badly from seasonal allergies? DH suffers with many allergies (food, seasonal etc) and I am afraid DD takes after him. She has been suffering (cough at night, running nose, sneezing) and its not a cold. We are giving benadryl but I am hoping there is a daily OTC allergy med we can start her on.
She is 16m, 23.5lb... of course we will consult the ped just wondering if anyone has experience with anything that works?

DD doesn't have seasonal allergies (thank goodness, I did as a child and it was miserable). Just wanted to share that when DD broke out in hives at around the same age we were told we could give children's claritin. It's OTC and one dose a day. I don't know if there are other/better options but that's definitely one you can ask your ped about.

Re: toddler with allergies
I don't think the can start allergy meds til 2. Ask the ped though. Hannah was 7.5 mo and all we could give was benedryl. Al the kids Claritin said 2 though.

The bottle says 2 but call the ped for the correct dose.

Re: toddler with allergies
DS had them from 9 months old.. Pedi kept telling me it was impossible. But he was allergic to my friends dog. His face would blow up and his nose would run and his eyes would tear. He also started with season allergies around then. I was giving him Benadryl. At 18 months, I started with Childrens Claritin on a daily basis (as needed). HE is now 4 and he still gets Claritin every day along with benadryl on bad days.

Re: toddler with allergies
a few have mentioned Zyrtec and a few Claritan! Thank you, I'll call the ped today and ask about both.
I feel so badly for her she is in good spirits but miserable at night and the snot is just out of control.
