Toddler parenting/discipline book rec?
Anyone have any good toddler parenting/discipline books to recommend? My 15 month old DS is a totally different child then my older DS and I need some new techniques! I hadn't even started time outs at this age with my older son, this one already gets time outs and they don't seem to deter him from the behavior!

1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 was great for us so long as we stuck with it

I only just started reading it, but have heard good things about, The Happiest Toddler on The Block. The Happiest Baby on the Block worked wonders for us, so I am starting ahead of time with reading this one

I am also looking for a good book on siblings/raising a 2nd child too if anyone has one they recommend! i took Siblings Without Rivalry: How to Help Your Children Live Together So You Can Live Too from the library - while an interesting read i found it too complicated and not practical...but it definitely gave me things to think about...

Re: Toddler parenting/discipline book rec?
DS flipped at 8m, and I know it sounds like I'm a nut for complaining about an 8m old, but when your 8m is as big as a 18m old and as strong and throwing himself and kicking and screaming at every whim, it feels as chaotic and is as defeating as any 1,2,3 year old. I had to find out what the heck is wrong with him and what could cure it, because if this is what life is at 8m, I will not survive the next years - physically or psychologically. We found some solutions that work really well for us, I've really did a mish mash of some of my favorite reads:
I've taken things from each of these.
I love Your Self Confident Baby philosophy. I love that the goal is mutual respect, the simplicity of the method, the "natural" aspect of it. Its very tame and non-confrontational which is right in line with my personality. But its reads as impractical on many levels, its something you have to try to understand, because when I first read it I was like "what the h-ll is that going to do?" at every page... but it was magic for us, there is a great blog I read that is very much in line with it, I'll link some great articles below, because IMO you don't need to read the book, just these articles
Toddler Testing - 3 Steps to End the Nightmare
Free as a Dog - Parenting with Calm Control
Baby Disciplin - Person to Person
Toddler Discipline without Shame
There are always more, her articles are great and she will openly take questions and discuss anything with you till the cows come home.
Happiest Toddler, well I agree with his point, they are like cavemen, but you wont catch me acting that way in public, its silly and I don't think I want to model that kind of behavior for DS. I like the logic behind it, but the "how to" is so not me. The book is very interesting and actually, I've learned more about how to talk to other adults from it than anything.
On Becoming Toddlerwise ... scares me a little but it gives you great how to kind of stuff. Its a very kind of you the parent have to enforce discipline kind of book ... I'm not that kind of parent it kind of scares me for that reason, but I have learned so much about being a strong parent from that... I'm very wishy washy I guess, I think I say "okay just this once" too much.... and that confuses a toddler that is learning how to he world works. Persistence is so important. Boundaries are very rigid, and that's what I take from it, and learned from it, and if I forget it, I read some highlights from this book, it puts me back in line.
