Toddler-friendly Beach

I haven't gone to the beach it seems since before I had DS. He's now 18 months old. My sister and her boyfriend are coming down tonight for a few days and want to hit the beach. DH and I stopped at one once out East and it was a nightmare because DS wanted to run right in the water. Can anyone recommend a beach that is somewhat toddler friendly? I haven't paid attention to the kids stuff in the past so I'm not sure what ones are the best.

What about Jones?

We live right near Tanner Park but I know they aren't gonna want to go there.

Jones is great, aside from the actual beach, they have the pools, like GIANT playground and mini golf on the boardwalk, plus the ice cream parlor up by the pool.

What about Robert Moses? I don't think I've ever been there.

Robert Moses is JUST the beach. And the waves are usually pretty big.

I agree with Melissa - Jones BEach would have so much more for a toddler.

Re: Toddler-friendly Beach

We ended up going to Jones and had a great time. We were only there for about 3 hours and DS was sound asleep before I even pulled out of the parking lot. He's still sleeping now. Chat Icon

I liked that there was the incline down to the beach, so it was out of sight, out of mind for DS.

I agree. Especially the bay side. The water is very calm- and the sprinkler area is right there!

Oh really? That's great to know! I always thought we couldn't go there EVER since we're not Town of Oyster Bay residents!

Re: Toddler-friendly Beach

I live in Suffolk/Town of Babylon so how does this work with what beaches you can get on? I figured you just pay an entrance fee, resident or not?

I didn't buy the beach pass because it wouldn't pay. We don't go to the beach that much.

Jones Beach - Zach's Bay, I believe the field is number 5? Not sure, it is the one near the theater. There is a playground there as well. The water is very shallow, so going in the water isn't too much for for adults.
