Toddler drooling after teething is over...
OK, I just wanted to post this to see if I am alone here or if there are other kids out there who do this...
DS is almost 2 1/2 and he finished getting his last teeth, his 2 year molars, a few months ago.
BUT, he is STILL DROOLING!!! 
I was so excited because I thought that he would stop being a drool monster once all his teeth came in but that has not been the case with him.
So, does anyone else experience this with their toddlers???

my DS is an excessive drooler.. he is 2 1/2 and still drools... we are still trying to figure out why, but we have a few ideas.
-low muscle tone
-he is so used to the drool it doesnt bother him
-he is a mouth breather
we are working with his therapists to decrease the drool.

My DS does. Not horribly, but still drools.
When he was evaluated by EI they brought up the drooling (this was shortly after he turned 2) and told me it was not "normal" at that age. They had a list of "things" it could be...low muscle tone, sensory processing.
DS also have enormous tonsils...the ENT seems to think that is why he still drools. He is getting his tonsils out in 2 weeks so we will see.
ETA: He had speech EI services for 6 mo. and it made NO difference in the drooling. I dont know what they were supposed to do to help him but it obviously wasnt a big issue because he didnt requalify.

I wonder if it is tied into the snoring thing??? Maybe ask you ped. if she thinks there is a correlation. How is he lately with real "solids"? Any gagging? I know you said he doesn't like whole fruit.

I will definitely have to call the ped and ask because now I am curious. He definitely still snores like crazy. It's funny because Caitlin is so quiet and we are used to so much noise, we constantly wonder if she is OK! 
As for the food issues, he is good with eating solids now. And the only fruit he will eat as a solid is a banana ... the only vegetable he will eat is broccoli. Strange boy!
It's just interesting that the only comments were mostly about EI and low muscle tone and DS has never been put into either of those categories. Hmmmmmmm!

Having gone through EI I can tell you that I (and the other mother's above who also have similar experiences to me and responded) have had all of these evaluations and have learned a tremendous amount about pediatric development.
Matthew appears to have oral motor weakness and part of his speech therapy is doing tongue exercises with him. Drooling is one of the biggest symptoms and yet he doesn't drool so they're always puzzled by it. Gagging on food consistancy is also another indicator.
In your case, Lucas could have low muscle tone in his mouth based on this. However, fortunately it has CLEARLY never effected his speech which is great because that is usually the cause for concern.
Not sure if that would qualify you for EI alone because he does not have any delays as a result or in any other areas. But I think it might be worth speaking to your ped. about it and if she thinks there is concern you can take it from there.
While he probably won't qualify for EI you can certainly get them in for a free evaluation just to give you input. At that point you decide what to do which would probably either be nothing or taking him to an SLP for evaluation and therapy.
But really I am not convinced it would come to that. In Lucas's case I would be more likely to believe it is a tonsil issue.

I just had a ped appointment with my 2.5 yo. I asked if I should be concerned about him drooling. She said no. She didn't say anything about muscle tone or EI.
