Toddler bed sleeping question

So 1 week into her sleeping in the toddler bed and she finally fell out. I heard a loud thump, she was crying and I went in so I picked her up and put her back in the bed and she wasn't hurt or anything. So for those who have kids in Toddler beds, do they sleep in the "correct" sleeping position. Head at the top, feet at the bottom etc.. Every time I check the monitor she is all over the bed, just how she was in the crib. Should I be trying to teach her to sleep normal?

Toddler bed sleeping question

We never did toddler bed but went right to a twin. He is all over the place. Has been in it for 2 years and is still all over the place. He still manages to fall out and the bed is in a corner with a rail so the only real open spot is the foot of the bed.

He has never hurt himself though and we check on him and move him if we see he is in a bad spot.

Both my kids sleep all over the place even though they start in the "normal" position. My little guy has a rail on his toddler bed and my big guy has a foam wedge under the sheet on his twin. Neither has fallen out.... yet Chat Icon

my son was all over the crib. A month ago we converted to his full size bed (from crib). I bought miracle bumpers. He fell out once cause the bumpers were messed up and DH did not fix them properly, but he was fine. he seems to be getting better at staying in one area, but he will still spin around at night sometimes!

ETA he will be 3 in feb if that info is helpful at all!

My kids now sleep in the correct position in their toddler beds. In the beginning they were all over the place. One of my twins used to fall asleep with his head half hanging out of the toddler bedChat Icon.

Did you put a crib rail on the bed? We have one for DS and it basically takes up the entire side of the bed so he can't fall out.

The toddler bed has half crib rails, I was waiting to see if I needed to rail off the rest of it. If she falls again we r def. going to do it. She is so wiggly!! Glad to know she is not the only one lol

My son has fallen out twice from his toddler bed. He doesn't want the rail (cries hysterically). We ended up putting a pool noodle under the sheets as a bumper. Since then he hasn't fallen out again.

Re: Toddler bed sleeping question

My dd is all over the place in her toddler bed. She's been in it for just over a month and has fallen out once. But I have found her still sleeping with her feet on the floor. If I notice it I move her back to a better spot. She's slowly getting better. I do have a pillow along the spot where she could fall just in case.

Toddler bed sleeping question

DD was in a toddler bed for about a week. She is all over the place when she sleeps so that didn't work out for her. Even now in a twin size bed she is an Olympian in her sleep! I had to put two guardrails up on one side of the bed and just leave a space big enough for her to climb in and out of, for she was flipping around in her sleep and ending up at the foot of the bed, rolling over and falling out. Never does she sleep in one place all night.

Why did you put her in a toddler bed at such an early age?

Well she is almost 20 months so I don't think it's such an early age but a few reasons.. 1 she has been in a cot at daycare since 18 months and loved it and 2 I am due with DD #2 in May and didn't want her to adjust to a bigger bed while also adjusting to a sibling.

You could always just get another crib.

I am just curious are you intentionally being an a$$hole with your responses? Didn't ask for your direct advice so I'll pass on responding to you in the future.

DD has been in her bed for well over a year and she's all over it, maybe not as much now as in the beginning, but we used to find her sideways, upside down, head hanging off, feet hanging out- you name it. She fell out more than a few times too, though never hard enough to wake herself up. She'll get used to it, and some people are just restless sleepers I think, I wouldn't worry.

Wow she is being rude. And I converted my dd early too. She actually refused to sleep in her crib.

Thank you. It seems to be a trend with this Member. She always has a snide comment.

Toddler bed sleeping question

I would absolutely get one of the rails. My DC is 4 and still is ALL OVER her twin bed. Head at the bottom, had at the top, sideways, diagonally. She just moves all around her sleep so I think even if we taught her the proper way it still wouldn't matter.

You could always just stop being rude.

I wish I had an answer for you op, but my son refuses to sleep in his bed, or crib.
