Re: Today Show
I heard them say it was coming up and it was funny because in the teaser they said 'watch an IVF transfer live - the moment of conception' I and thought, another uninformed tv bit.

I cringed on Giulianna and Bill when Bill said they were transferring Giulianna's egg into the surrogate. Umm embryo. It's an embryo.

Today Show
Yesterday they were showing live births - I nearly fell over while on the elliptical - and then proceeded to cry a little.

Re: Today Show
I thought that showing live births on TV was inappropriate. Today they showed the egg retrieval, then they cut to a break and they said they collected a lot of eggs. Then they showed sperm floating in a solution and they grabbed hold of an egg with a pipette, then they used a needle to insert one sperm into an egg. You could see the little spark when the sperm was released into the egg. It was cool looking. The couple they featured were engaged and had apparently been trying for 9 years. She is 33 years old.
Dr. Nancy made a snide comment (as always with her - of all the TV personalities she is my absolute least favorite). Saying something along the lines a uterus is not a condo unit and that the Dr. would only put back 2 embryos after they waited a few days to see which of them grew the best. She said 60% of IVF is successful and stressed going to a reputable clinic with a lot of experience that has a high % success rate.

LoL makes you wonder how many other topics that we're not fluent in are being reported incorrectly.
