To have another baby or not?!?!

I know this isn't something you ladies can necessarily answer but, DH is done having kids. I am too, well, sometimes. I have days when I think I want another baby. . . and then I have days when I don't.

DS is 7 1/2
DD is 2
I'll be 40 in Dec
DH is 36

We both work F/T. DH's work schedule is CRAZY and he isn't around a lot. Our closest family member is MIL who lives 30 min away. Some days I think, "what's one more?!". Some days I think "Why did we have 2 kids?!?"

DH's concerns (besides money) is my health- being almost 40 and having had 3 c/s (I was also a surrogate for my SIL). The recovery from my last c/s was challenging, but there were no complications.

I'm just not sure how to either (A) get over my urges to have another baby *OR* (B) try and convince DH

If your DH is done having kids then unfortunately I don't think this is something you can just force on someone. I think you would have to be both on board since it will affect the both of you. Also something to think about if you want to come to peace with your decision to stay at 2 is to be thankful for the 2 that you have already. I know its a hard decision, best of luck! Chat Icon

Thank you!!!!

Being thankful for the 2 beautiful, healthy children we have is what I tell myself when I contemplate having another baby.

Just the days I want another baby are sometimes difficult

i would have a serious convo with to DH about it. Find out why he doesnt want another...if he has valid reasons and is dead set against it, there is nothing you can do. just be happy y ou have to kids already and enjoy every minute with them.
if DH seems open to the idea after discussing it, give it more thought and decide if you want to or not.

DH and i are currently on the fence about a 3rd (but it wouldnt be for 2 years). when our second was born he immediately told people yes we may have a third. 4 months later, he says its too soon to talk about it lol we are going to enjoy our two wonderful kids now and decide in a year or two what we would like to do.

I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm 40 and just don't feel done. I have 2 amazing children but just still feel like we aren't done. I could totally get my husband on board but the only thing standing in my way is my age. I'm so nervous. So I feel for you!!!

To me, it doesn't sound like you are ready right now - sounds like you're on the fence but feel like you should have another one just because of your age. I don't think that's a good enough reason to have another child. I think you should wait a little while longer and see how you feel in a few more months.

Obviously, if I totally mis-interpreted your emotions, just ignore me Chat Icon

No idea. My first thought is to see my Ob/Gyn and see what he says (he did all 3 of my c/s)

You can have more than 3. I worked in L&D for years and currently an obgyn in a high risk office. It may automatically put you into a high risk category pending on the type of incision you have.
