to get a captain's bed or a regular twin bed for a toddler...what do you think?

So because Liam's getting the boot from his converted crib/toddler bed (because of baby #2) we're going to get him a big boy regular twin bed. I DON'T want to spend a fortune as the kids will be sharing a room, and in time, I might consider bunking them.

So anyway, long story short, is a captain's bed higher off the ground than a regular twin bed? I will of course have the guard up, and DS loves sleeping in big beds anyway, but I do like the idea or storage BUT is it the same as getting a regular cheaper twin bed and just buying under the bed storage boxes?

Liam will be 3 in January. We want him in the twin by then.

Help.

Thanks!

All of the captain's beds that I have seen are higher off the ground than a standard twin bed. With that said, I have seen a regular twin bed with drawers underneath that are just considered a twin bed and are standard height. Does that make sense?

yea, I want to save money and I'm ok getting just the rubbermaid under-the-bed boxes to go under a regular twin (for additional storage) BUT if a captains bed is around the same price, might as well go that route.

Pretty much all of the captain's beds were more expensive when we were looking to get Kaydyn a twin bed a couple of months ago.

We ended up just getting a regular twin and will buy under the bed storage totes if we need to.

We also had limited space since both girls were sharing a room so we were looking for something smaller.

From what I've seen I think it will definitely be cheaper to get a twin and the under-the-bed boxes.

next question, where do you get a regular twin bed? I know this is a weird question...but I've always bought bedroom furniture as a "set". Do I go to a sleepys? Costco? Ikea, etc?

We ended up buying ours at Bed Quarters. We originally ordered one from Sleepys and it was going to be $500+. We ordered almost the same exact one at Bed Quarters for a little over $300. That was mattress, box spring, metal frame, mattress pad, and delivery.

We went to their store in Mineola, but I'm pretty sure they have a store in Commack on Jericho Tpke.

We have a tiny room for my DS so I am getting him a captain's bed when he outgrows his toddler bed. It is so worth it to have the extra space and its not that much higher.
