To eat or not to eat...
That is my question...
I can't remember - do you fast for the 1hr? I've failed the 1hr twice before, and then had to take the 3hr, and passed those. I just can't remember if you can eat before either of them? I'm seeing my dr. tomorrow, so I'll ask him, but I'm trying to make a tentative 3 hr appt incase I do, once again, fail the 1hr.
Thanks!

Re: To eat or not to eat...
It depends on your dr. I had to fast for mine.

Re: To eat or not to eat...
I was told not to fast but I have friends who are nurses and they say that you should as to not skew the results. Meaning, if you have something sugary the test could come back saying that you have GD but it's a false positive and you don't want to have to do the 3 hour if you really don't need to so they say to be on the safe side and just go first thing in the AM for the test before you eat.

This is what I had figured...If there's any chance of me avoiding the 3 hr this time, I'll take it! I know that I didn't fail the 1 hr by much the other times. Maybe 3rd time really is the charm :)

I was told not to eat anything from midnight the night before and I had my test at 8:30am.

Re: To eat or not to eat...
I actually didn't know that I was going to have mine on Monday when I went for my OB appointment, so I definitely hadn't fasted. Even worse, I had had a really yummy piece of chocolate cake a few hours before. I am so expecting to fail this test! Come to think of it, I should get my results back today...oy!

Re: To eat or not to eat...
The nurse at the doctor's office told me to eat some protein before the 1-hour.
However I failed the one hour. I passed the 3 (fasting).

Re: To eat or not to eat...
Midwives told me to eat BUT I fasted. When the lady drawing my blood asked if I fasted she said that was good and that a lot of people fail the 1 hour because they do not fast.

Re: To eat or not to eat...
I was just told I couldn't eat or drink anything the hour prior to the test. So basically, once I drank the liquid I couldn't eat anything from that point on.
