TMI question- sick baby and poop. Please help!!

DS has been sick for a week and a half now. At first it was just a cold but it got worse and we went to the Ped, he also has an ear infection and is now on antibiotics.

I mentioned to the Ped that his poop has been black and tarry. She said if I could, to bring a diaper in (I should have thought of that and brought it in the first place Chat Icon Chat Icon) I couldn't get back in time before they closed so she never got the sample. His poop is still black and tarry and it is freaking me out. Should I be very worried?? I am going to bring a diaper in tomorrow but I am reading all this scary stuff online (I know dumb but I have to!! Chat Icon ) about internal bleeding, etc. Every website says if your baby has black poop go to the Dr. immediately. His Ped didn't seem too worried though..

Anyone have any insight?? Can this wait until tomorrow? TIA Chat Icon

I think MrsBurtch on here had a similar problem and they found out it was nothing, just probably b/c she was sick....its probably the same for you. Don't stress it and stop googling it! Chat Icon Just bring in the diaper tomorrow and take it from there. When they're sick and on antibiotics, their poops are always different. Hang in there Chat Icon

ITA! Prior to getting very sick with a nasty virus, DD had white poop. I read online about it and it scared me...turned out it was the virus.

Thanks guys!

Wow, white poop would probably freak me out too, lol.

His poop is still black! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am sure it is nothing but this is his first time really being sick and black poop just seems off. He is also dehydrated so I think it could be that. He doesn't want to eat or drink.
