tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
A friend of mine is preggo and is weighing her option of having a v-delivery or a c/s (her doc is giving her the option) because she has heard that the after doesn't feel the same. I could only tell her my experience. I really haven't heard people complain that it doesn't feel the same, although I heard plenty say your sex life isn't the same in general after kids! So, what's your opinion? Just as good, or not so hot? I added a poll if you don't want to add details! TIA

Once the initial post-partum sex pain wore off, it felt the same as before. Slightly better, even, which surprised both of us!

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
I had a c-section but didn't have much of a choice. Is she really basing her decision off of how sex will feel after delivery? A c-section is a major surgery and I wouldn't do it if I didn't have to.

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
I had c section, but this was def a big concern for me I elected for c sec bc of my DS head size
How is it possible to be "tighter" after v birth? baby totally stretched out all of your insides, I don't think stitches on the outside can help that

ITA!!! After giving myself time to heal, it was the same or better than before. (V-Birth)

Agreed...though I didn't really have any pain initially - which I was totally surprised about.

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
I had a vaginal delivery and had to have stiches and we haven't had issues- but two friends of mine had c-sections and they both complained it was uncomfortable- so I dont think a c-section will help avoid that
plus like a bunch of other people said- it is surgery- so serious that you can't lift anything for 2 weeks- think about how hard that will be with a little one

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
mentally, DTD after having a c/s can be very awkward...
..at least, for me, I was afraid of putting too much pressure on my pelvic area, I had mental barriers of my muscles weren't as strong and what if they broke apart (all in my head) or what if my scar started bleeding or something...
so, it was harder to relax for quite some time, which doesn't help the cause at all.

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
OK, going to be honest...I had a V Birth and it did not feel the same at all...Preggo sex was amazing!! lol...after 8 weeks pp I felt like I was numb so I had no feeling down there, however after a few months the feelings are coming back and its more enjoyable.

Completely agree!
I had two vaginal births...completely fine afterwards...perhaps a little better because I had some tight stitches

I definitely am "tighter" (more so than I EVER was)... but I did have quite a lot of stitches.
I asked DH if he bribed my OB

At first it was painful. After a few times it was just as good.

No pain and the sex was better. Tighter if you can believe that.

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
Its actually even better now than before. I only had one stitch but it made quite a difference.
I really wouldnt base a huge decision like giving birth on how it will effect sex afterwards. C-section is major surgery and shouldnt be taken lightly. I'm surprised her doctor is even giving her the option. I would avoid it if at all possible. JMO.

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
A C is major surgery!! Why choose that if you dont have too!! Tell her to do a VAG!
After my vaginal delivery I am tighter than I was before. It def hurt in the beginning but we used lots of LUBE and we were good to go!

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
Well I guess I am in the minority. It took a long long time for me to feel normal again. I carried my first son SO low that he felt like he was falling out the whole second half of pregnancy.
I had a quick labor, only 1 stitch etc...but it felt awful for some time after. I actually cried the first few times cause i lost some sensation and lets just say, DH noticed too..ugh.
BUT....after about 6 months, yes 6 months things got back to normal. After my second son things were much better than first time around.
I think everyone is different but most people do eventually get back to "normal". Kegels and exercising is definitely the trick!

Re: tmi question about $ex after v-delivery
Wanted to add...I think its awful that the doctor is letting her choose based on how sex may or may not feel after..like others have said its MAJOR surgery. A vaginal birth usually results in a much easier recovery (not always) but usually.

Thank you for all the replies. Although I feel like most of you, that I would avoid a c/s at all costs, I wanted to get other opinions so that I could pass them on to her! Thanks!
