Re: TMI but help please

Did you try some chocolate or prune juice? You can buy colace over the counter, that's what they give you the hospital after birth.

I just asked this at my last obgyn appt.

Fiber - bran, bananas, veggies, etc.
Also, drinking lots of water.
Some take Metamucil.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I was like this in the beginning! It was TERRIBLE and I thought I was going to never find relief. I tried prunes and nothing. I tried laxatives (you can take them in your first trimester) but that made me feel worse. I finally found relief from Miralax!!!! It was amazing and I now always keep it in the house just in case.

Nothing worked for me in the beginning because all I could eat were carbs. Once I went back to a high-fiber diet and was feeling better, my constipation went away. I eat a lot of black beans, fro yo, and high-fiber cereal.

TMI but help please

Prunes helped out a lot. I would have about 4-5 a night before bed, and little by little I started going in the mornings. I have also increased my yogurt and milk intake.

Re: TMI but help please

A saline enema. Sounds gross but when you're desperate...completely safe and does the job immediately. Lets just say that 2 weeks of zofran had me almost screaming in pain on new years eve..a call to the doctor telling him i've tried everything...he recommends the enema and suddenly all was well with the world again Chat Icon

Re: TMI but help please

I had it kinda bad between weeks 10-14. I eat raisin bran for breakfast and 2 prunes and so far that has helped. Some days are still rough but most days I am fine. Good luck!
