Tips on weaning toddler?

Looking for advice on weaning my soon to be 18mo. She's always been ebf, never really took to a bottle, and doesn't drink milk (warmed nor cold) out of a sippy/straw. She will drink water out of a straw and watered down juice with no issues.

I do give her yogurt and she's pretty much on table food for all meals.

My older dd weaned off bm by this point but this one verbally asks for the boob (she will say milk while pulling at my shirt or pointing at my chest) and is showing no signs of switching over...

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Tips on weaning toddler?

I'm still nursing my 23 month old, but I've read you just have to be firm with saying no and really consistent. I try my best to redirect DS when he asks.

Tips on weaning toddler?

We ended up going away for a weekend so I could wean Dd. At that point she hadn't had a bottle in about 3 months, and she also wouldn't drink milk. Dd stayed with my sister and never looked back.

I weaned around 34 months. I just tried to distract her with something else whenever she asked. I slowly cut out the feedings....took a few weeks.

I tried this twice with no luck! My son is addicted.

My son is addicted too & I'm having a hard time with weaning. He screams hard & stares me down & gets really hysterical. He's not interested in a bottle or cup. I feel really guilty.

Did your DD scream while you were gone? I am hoping to get away for a long weekend in May but am worried about how DD will act (ie if she will be hysterical esp at bedtime!)

Your son sounds like my daughter. I give in every time. Ugh

When I'm not around, she goes on a hunger strike.

Same!! And a cup or bottle is especially out of the question if I'm around... he just throws it down & screams harder at me... then I feel terrible. I worry he's going to get dehydrated or something, plus I feel bad he can't calm himself, so I give in... I think I just need to set a date to be done & stick to it & trust he'll adapt Chat Icon I want to be done soon but then on the other hand I know I'll miss it so that makes it even harder for me to be consistent. Didn't have any of these issues with my older son because I pumped for him so I was in control & he loved the bottle. This weaning stuff is all new to me & makes me sad.

According to my DH, he was fine. If I'm not there, he eats real food and drinks regular milk.

I frequently give him a cup of milk or chocolate milk when he asks to nurse and I don't want to nurse. It works 75% of the time.

I also try to have DH distract him and I leave the room.
