tips for travelling w/infant
We're driving down to Maryland Columbus day weekend with DD who will be 5 mths. DH and I are a little nervous. The trip is normally 5-6 hrs. Can you give me some trips on how to travel with her or just explain your routine for a long car ride with a LO?

Re: tips for travelling w/infant
I make sure to have her bottles prepped and ready to go, OR, I pour out the oz of water into the bottle, pour out the designated amount of formula into a baggie, use a twist-tie on it, and clip it onto the appropriate bottle with the cap.
I make sure to bring lots and lots of toys that she can play with in her hands, and I also have toys that clip/velcro directly onto her infant seat.
ETA: I only use the infant seat now as a traveling seat.... I'm not moving the Britax out of my car.

WE did lots of stops so DD could get out of the car and stretch her legs and just get some fresh air. I would just push her in the stroller in the parking lot

Leave when she is ready for her nap and do not stop until she wakes --- no pee pee breaks for you and DH, no gas filling, just keep going for as long as you can. Once she is up, stop, have lunch then walk for an hour or so.
Then back in the car for hopefully another nap.
I brought my laptop for a big trip and DS watched a sesame street dvd towards the end of the trip.

I sit in the back for long trips with DD. I find it is easier to know what she needs if she is crying. I also can entertain her when she is fussy but we can't yet stop. Sometimes our trips take a lot longer and other times they go really smooth and fast. Just be prepared for a lot of stops and if you don't have to stop, great. Good luck!

DD sleeps so well in the car that we've taken 8 hour car drives and she's slept the whole way. I find that if I or anyone sits in the back with her she is distracted and doesn't sleep, and that makes her cranky.....
