tips for transitioning to a bed?

We potty trained DD about 3/4 weeks ago. We are due with #2 at the end of November. We would like to transition DD1 to a bed in her new room before the baby is born. She sleeps so well in her crib and has been doing great at night with the potty training. I'm afraid to do it too soon, but I'm also nervous to do it too close to the new baby coming into the picture. Any tips to do this successfully? DD1 is currently 28 months

tips for transitioning to a bed?

I had heard no big changes 3 months before and 3 months after (some say 6 months) when a new baby comes. A baby in itself is a HUGE change for a toddler. I personally didn't want to rock my dds world anymore than that at once.

Personally i think that may be a lot to throw at your child. And if she is doing well with sleep i wouldnt throw yet another huge change at her. Especially if she hasnt shown any interest, isnt climbing out and isnt having sleep issues.
She just got potty trained and theres another baby coming. That will throw her world in a world wind to begin.
Ive heard not to do too much too soon because it will cause a ton of regressions.

My DD made a really easy transition to the bed and it was no big deal. I would try it out and see how she does

We did it around that age a few months before our second was born. We let dd help put the new bed together which she loved and made her really excited to sleep in it. We had no issues with the switch.

Re: tips for transitioning to a bed?

I'd definitely do the transition now. I wanted DD1 in the bed a few months before the baby came so that she wouldn't feel like the baby was taking "her" crib. I also wasn't sure how the transition would go, and I wanted her to at least be sleeping well before I brought a newborn home, bc I didn't want to be up with both of them! She had no issue with the change at all. I think kids are way more resilient than we give them credit for sometimes.

We moved my DD to a bed about 3 months before my 2nd was born. We got her Frozen blankets and owl sheets and that was all she needed to make her really want to sleep there.
